The institute
A pathology institute in Upper Bavaria that has run molecular diagnostics in house for years.
We are pathologists in private practice at Klinikum Traunstein, serving cooperating hospitals, organ centres and physicians in private practice across south-eastern Bavaria. The institute covers the full spectrum of histopathology, along with an extensive repertoire of immunohistochemical tests.
Molecular pathology we perform entirely ourselves. No shipping to a central laboratory, no cooperation in which responsibility gets lost somewhere along the way: the pathologist who assesses the material sees it through to the report.
Why this page
Molecular diagnostics are not equally available everywhere in Europe. There are regions where the methods are approved and reimbursed, but no laboratory within reach runs them. And there are colleagues who want to request a test and find no one to explain what the report means.
That is exactly what this page is for. We accept material from across Europe and report on it here, under the same conditions as material from the Chiemgau.

Molecular pathology is the responsibility of Dr. med. Harald Bartsch, specialist in pathology. He trained at the Institute of Pathology of the LMU Munich and is a partner of the institute.

Where we are
Traunstein lies in the Chiemgau, about 35 kilometres from Salzburg and 100 from Munich. For shipping that means: we sit on the Munich–Vienna axis and are reachable within a manageable time from the entire German-speaking region, from northern Italy and from south-eastern Europe.
